Giacomo Strapazzon is the Director of Mountain Clinic and co-founder of the Institute of Mountain Emergency Medicine and terraXcube at Eurac Research in Italy. He is the current President of the Italian Society of Mountain Medicine (SIMeM) and delegate for CNSAS at ICAR medcom. He is a consultant in internal and emergency medicine, and active in the study of human adaptation to special environments and mountain medicine. He has been principal and co-investigator for in-field, clinical and laboratory studies, mainly focusing on cold injuries and hypoxia, which have helped expand the current knowledge on avalanche-accident pathophysiology.
