Dr Lina Arthur
Lina Arthur is a guidebook writer and editor, blending academic
precision with first-hand experience at the “sharp end”. After earning a DPhil
from the University of Oxford, Lina traded the archives for the mountains,
becoming a leading advocate for usable, mapping-led guidebooks that make hard
places accessible as well as inspiring. Her guides, published by the Oxford Alpine Club, range from ice climbing and Scottish winter mountaineering to dry-tooling and trail-running, and include the ground-breaking Snow & Ice: Winter Mountaineering Routes of Great Britain - the first solely female-authored climbing guidebook published in
the UK. She sees guidebooks not just as documenting facts, but as a vital link in the chain that helps to bridge the gap between mountain and climber.
