Tim Sanders

Dr Tim Sanders is a rural General Practitioner based in Cumbria and Course Leader for the University of Lancashire MSc in Mountain Medicine. His work centres on preparing clinicians for safe, effective practice in remote, high-risk, and resource-limited mountain environments. He is closely involved in curriculum design, expedition and field-based training, and the integration of clinical medicine with mountain leadership, human factors, environmental risk, and mountaineering safety.

Tim volunteers as a team doctor with Penrith Mountain Rescue Team, contributing to operational response, training, and clinical governance. His professional focus bridges mountain medicine education, real-world rescue practice, and the translation of operational learning into structured training.

Outside work, he is an active climber, mountaineer, hillwalker, and runner, as well as a keen sailor, and spends much of his time exploring wild places with his family.
